A blog about my the history, acquisition and operation of my 1911 Model 62 Stanley Steamer.

Unrestored Stanley Model 60

Resorting brass era vehicles is a tricky business. Often there isn't nearly enough original photographs or literature to answer the plethora of questions you are bound to come up with.  Finding an untouched original is extremely rare especially when you consider the large amount of wood used in there construction.

This 1910 Stanley Model 60 is about as barn fresh as they come. It was found by a known Stanley hunter in the 40's. The little details you can gather from a vehicle like this are always the most interesting. I picked up right away that the tail light bracket is different then the one found on my car being an under mount unit instead of a surface mount.  I also picked up on the valve positions on the firewall and the lack of a main steam gauge. I assume the gauge has been removed because you couldn't operate the car without it. There is lots to learn from this car and hopefully it will be maintained in its original condition.

This car is actually listed for sale. You can contact Mike May at 231-386-5049 if you are interested.
