Blog

A blog about my the history, acquisition and operation of my 1911 Model 62 Stanley Steamer.

A video from the beginning

This is a video that was shot a couple weeks after we brought the car home. It was our first attempt we made starting it.

I had spent lots of time with Vern and the Stanley over the last 10 years but starting it by myself was a lot harder then I thought. It was unfortunate that I didn't get to spend more time going over every little detail in person but such was not the case. The book I'm reading is a guide published by Floyd Clymer about operating non-condensing Stanleys. Unfortunately my Stanley wasn't switched to a dual fuel system till the late 70's so most of the guide was not applicable to my car. Also you'll notice we were running a regulator on the pilot set to 30 PSI which has since been removed.
