New Water Tanks Test Fit

If you have been following my blog you would know the stock capacity of water in my is 28 Gallons which isn't quite enough if you consider the mileage of 1 mile per gallon of water. Most tours will travel at least 30 miles plus between coffee stops so to would advisable to carry more if at all possible. Vern, the previous owner, had come to the same conclusion years ago but had just fitted a cut down cooler out of sight that was plumbed to the main tank. I decided to replace this with a more permanent and era correct setup.

The layout of my vehicle doesn't provide a lot of places to add an additional water tank. It would have to go on the floor between the the gas tank and the existing water tank. After some careful measurements and some deep thought we decided the only way to maximize on the space was to build two separate tanks and plumb them together once they were installed. The main reason comes down to installation. There would have been no way to install a large tank without disassembling the portions of the body which is obviously not an option. The great part about the tank design we settled on was that it provides an EXTRA 17 GALLONS of water. That brings me up to a total capacity of 45 gallons which is pretty darn exciting!
